About Lin Lao Shi
aka Mr Lim Wei Bin.

Students often shun the Chinese language as it is a common belief that the only way to master it is to memorise words, idioms, and phrases, only to realise that all is for nought when they are incorrectly used in compositions or oral exams.
Ni hao! I am Mr Lim. Others may know me as Tutor Lim Wei Bin or Wei Bin and I have a wealth of experience in teaching in various schools, tuition centres, and homes. Through observations over the years, I have refined my techniques to bridge various gaps that have hindered students' learning. I help students to improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
I grew up in the generation where our teachers taught us to memorise phrases, vocabularies and idioms. However, I realised memorising kills the joy of studying. I firmly believe that lessons should be fun to better hone skills. Relevant topics such as current affairs as well as casual topics are usually introduced to develop students’ speaking and listening skills. The interactive lessons encourage students to clarify any doubts, and the techniques taught help them to understand challenging questions and improve their written responses.
To list some of my students, I have taught those from Saint Joseph Institution (SJI), Raffles Institution (RI), Raffles Girls' School (RGS), Cedar Girls' School, Maris Stella High School, Anglo Chinese School Independent (ACSI), Holy Innocent High, St Andrew Junior College (SAJC), Millennium Institute (MI), Pasir Ris Crest Secondary, and Nanyang Primary.
My passion for Chinese began when I was young, and it culminated in an Honours Degree in Chinese at Nanyang Technological University. On top of that, I am a MOE-trained teacher and also trained in Differentiated Instruction and have completed a course on Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Being trained in NLP has enabled me to better communicate and develop lesson structure that are better suited to individual students whom all have different learning pace and abilities. This passion, combined with the wealth of teaching experience and a unique teaching approach, means that your child is in good hands.
